Independent international media group and rights owner, Coolabi Group, today announces a new deal with Walker Books for the TV tie-in publishing of Scream Street, Coolabi’s brand new animated series set to air on CBBC this October.
Walker Books is the world’s leading independent publisher of children’s books and works across titles for children of all ages. Walker is the publisher of the original Scream Street series written by Tommy Donbavand that went on to inspire the TV series.
In this new agreement Walker books will publish a series of TV tie-in books set to follow the stories of the Scream Street television series, which saw Donbavand’s original stories adapted into 52 x 11’ stop frame episodes, by a UK and US writing team headed up by Giles Pilbrow (Horrible Histories, Newzoids, Have I Got News For You, Spitting Image).
Valerie Fry, Director of Licensing at Coolabi comments “we are very excited to sign our first Scream Street licensee and look forward to the TV tie-in books leading the way for our amazing Scream Street merchandising offer.”
Helen McAleer, Chief Global Development Officer of The Walker Books Group and Managing Director of Walker Production, said: “Walker Books is a big fan of Scream Street and Tommy Donbavand since first launching the book series in 2008. We are delighted that the TV tie-in publishing will make its home here too and look forward to working with Tommy and Coolabi as we deliver the next exciting chapter of the Scream Street story.”
Scream Street premieres on BBC iPlayer on Wednesday 14th October and airs on CBBC on Wednesday 21st October, 5pm.
