Purple Ronnie gets behind Teenage Cancer Trust

COOLABI BRAND TO PARTNER ON A RANGE OF INITIATIVES

Coolabi Group, market-leading IP management and entertainment specialist, is announcing a new charity partnership between its quirky youth-skewed property Purple Ronnie and Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of young people with cancer.

The partnership, brokered by agency Louis Kennedy, will encompass a range of activities supporting Teenage Cancer Trust initiatives throughout the coming months, lending the trademark Purple Ronnie humour and recently redesigned artwork to the charity’s undertakings.

Teenage Cancer Trust strives to improve the quality of life and chances of survival of teenagers and young adults with cancer, ensuring they get appropriate treatment in an environment designed to meet their specific needs. The charity also hosts an annual series of fundraising concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, running this week, with this year’s performers including Ed Sheeran, The Cure, One Republic and Passenger, along with comedy evening featuring Mickey Flanagan and John Bishop.

Michael Dee, Director of Content at Coolabi Group says: “We are proud to be able to support Teenage Cancer Trust through Purple Ronnie, which draws themes relevant to teenagers and young adults and infuses them with playful, observational wit. One of the key elements of Teenage Cancer Trust’s approach is ensuring that illness doesn’t eclipse the fun, awkward, exciting experiences of growing up, which the Purple Ronnie brand encapsulates.”

Louise Brooks, at Teenage Cancer Trust adds: “There are great synergies between our brands which will help us raise significant funds for young people with cancer. We try to treat young people as teenagers first and cancer patients second and we are looking forward to working with Purple Ronnie on lots of fun activities.”

Tracey Richardson, Research Director at Louis Kennedy comments: “I’m delighted that Purple Ronnie is supporting such a great cause. When Coolabi showed me Purple Ronnie’s new direction and asked me to suggest a cause he could support the synergy with Teenage Cancer Trust was immediately apparent. I wish the partnership every success. ”

With a strong heritage and existing cross-generational following, the Purple Ronnie brand has been completely updated for a contemporary audience and has increased its digital presence over the last few months. A recent deal with online producer and broadcaster Little Dot saw the launch of the Purple Ronnie channel on YouTube, www.youtube.com/purpleronnie, targeting 15 – 30 year olds and boasting over 80,000 video views since its debut in December 2013. The Facebook page now has over 50,000 likes with a high engagement level from its growing fan base, while the Twitter following increased by 270% in 2013. Delivering observational humour with warmth and wit, Purple Ronnie has maintained its core elements and diversified across emerging platforms to ensure it remains fun and relatable.
