Jetpack appointed as distributor for Clangers TV series

Today, independent kids and family content distributor company Jetpack Distribution announces it has been appointed to distribute Coolabi Group’s iconic pre-school stop motion animated show Clangers.

This includes three seasons of the BAFTA award winning show, which currently airs on CBeebies in the UK.

Season one comprises 52 x 11 minutes, season two 26 x 11 minutes and season three 26 x 11 minutes. The deal covers all audio-visual rights for territories worldwide, excluding the UK, Australia and China.

The Clangers are a family of lovable, pink, mouse-like creatures who live out in space on their Little Blue Planet. The planet’s surface is peppered with holes topped with metal dustbin lids, which flip open with a ‘Clang!’ to reveal steps down to their home beneath the surface of the planet which contains a series of interconnecting tunnels and caves.

Clangers are kind, welcoming, warm and generous. They are inclusive and quirky, which often results in comedy from the situations they find themselves in. They are problem solvers too, usually discovering that the help of others is the solution. They communicate with distinctive whistles and a narrator assists the audience by commenting on their everyday events and adventures, rather like a knowing wildlife observer.

Co-produced by CBeebies, Coolabi Group and Smallfilms, the all new episodes have been animated by Factory (Scream Street, Newzoids)  in the UK.

Jetpack CEO, Dominic Gardiner says: “Clangers has a timeless magic. It’s truly delightful for young children and their parents. As well as being highly entertaining and making them laugh, it’s helping children appreciate important developmental aspects such as team work.”

He adds: “Quality content for children is imperative right now. As parents and professionals, we hugely value shows made with heart and soul which nourish young viewers.”

Allison Watkins, Director of Licensing and TV Distribution at Coolabi commented: “Dominic and his amazing team at Jetpack are recognised as being one of the best children’s content distributors in the world and we are delighted to have the Clangers join their family.”

Brand new Scream Street to return this Halloween

Independent international rights owner, Coolabi Group has announced today that CBBC is to welcome Series 2 of spook-tastic stop-motion animation, ‘Scream Street’ back to the neighbourhood.

Based on the hit book series of the same name by Tommy Donbavand, the all new, fast-paced and hilarious 26 x 11’ series features a whole host of new characters and rib-tickling adventures that are guaranteed to spook kids silly this Halloween.

The Scream Street gang includes Luke the teenage werewolf, Resus the Vampire, savvy 4,000 year-old Mummy, Cleo, Luella the trainee witch, surf-dude zombie Doug and Frankenstein-style creation Six. This season they go on their most outrageous adventures yet, featuring thrills, chills and a lot of laughs.

Six is a brand-new character for Series 2, who is the same age as most of the gang, but born yesterday, and along with Luella and Cleo, forms part of Scream Street’s brand-new girl squad. She moves to Scream Street with her creator, Dr F, and eccentric scientist and the latest antagonist to the Scream Street crew.

From laugh out loud jokes to friendship mishaps, new spells to strange and unusual everyday problems, the all-new episodes see the gang come up against a whole host of silly spooks as they battle to save Scream Street, usually from one of evil Otto’s dastardly tricks, or one of their own sticky situations.

Luke is voiced once more by Tyger Drew-Honey, with John Thomson, Debra Stephenson, Claire Skinner, Rasmus Hardiker, Tala Gouveia, and Jim Howick returning to voice the remaining residents of Scream Street.

Jeremy Banks, Chief Executive of Coolabi comments: “In a world where audiences of all ages are falling in love with strange and spooky stories, Scream Street is a fun-filled, weird and extremely wonderful show for younger audiences, brimming with tricks, treats and laugh-out-loud humour for all the family.”

The hit show, produced by Coolabi Group, is being brought back to life by showrunner Giles Pilbrow (Spitting Image and Horrible Histories) and is co-produced and animated by award-winning animation studio Factory (Clangers, Strange Hill High) in Altrincham.
