Coolabi Group celebrates huge success with hit pre-school animation Clangers

The brand new series of Clangers whistled hello on CBeebies in June 2015, with launch day ratings of nearly 1 million viewers which is well above the slot average*.

It ended 2015 with special Christmas Day episode The Brilliant Surprise airing on BBC 1 to 1.7 million people across the UK. Plus it rated as the number one animated series on CBeebies for Housewives with Children 0-3 in the very competitive Christmas period**.

Following its impressive launch, the show’s ratings have gone from strength to strength and industry ratings body BARB reports that Clangers was the top rated show for kids aged 4-6 on all UK channels in the first half of 2015***. It has also had around 4 million streams/ downloads on the BBC iPlayer.

The much-loved series has not been off air since launch, and currently occupies CBeebies 6pm Bedtime Hour slot where it is achieving its highest ever ratings and a 23.5% market share****.

Clangers has already won the 2015 BAFTA for Best Pre-School Animation, and, in 2016, the show has nominations for Best Pre-School Animated Series in the Kidscreen Awards and Best Pre-School Programme in the Broadcast Awards.

The hit show’s launch press campaign generated more than 600+ pieces of print and broadcast coverage, which, with the online coverage, created over 1.2 billion opportunities to see (OTS).

Clangers has over 100k highly engaged fans on Facebook, and Facebook’s analytics show that post engagement is 300% higher than for typical brand posts.

Clangers already has 23 licensees and counting, across all major categories, with consumer products entering the market throughout 2016. This follows on from the extensive toy lines from Character Options in A/W 2015. The property has just announced a new partnership with Ty for 2016 and beyond.

Jeremy Banks, CEO of Coolabi Group, comments: “We are incredibly proud of Clangers. We knew the show had retained the heart and quality of the original, but its huge ratings, awards and commercial successes have surpassed even our expectations.

“2016 is set to be a very exciting time for Clangers; the next set of 26 brand new episodes is due to broadcast on CBeebies this Spring, plus we are looking forward to Clangers’ strong presence at this year’s toy and gift fairs. With fantastic new product lines in all categories due to hit the shelves, the future is out of this world.”
